Preparing for Lord’s Day Worship (Pt. 4)

Robert Tunstall · October 22, 2023 · Reflecting On Lord's Day Worship

Protect your Saturday evenings. If you're like me, you LOVE to be with people and Saturday evenings seem like such a natural time to fill your calendar with gatherings. It’s hard to say no to an invitation to be with others you enjoy being with. But remember, we have an invitation from the King to meet the very next morning. And we want to show up to this meeting ready, right?

When we protect our Saturday night we start our Sunday right!

So, the first step in showing up ready on Sunday morning is to protect your Saturday evening. Make it a habit to go to bed early so you can get up early. Pray for your heart, your family, and your church family! Look over the weekly church email’s section called “Preparing for Sunday.” There you can see what the sermon text and title will be, and what our catechism questions are, and you can even listen to a playlist of the songs we will be singing. Lay out what you and the family will wear, prepare what you will eat in advance, and read the sermon text as a family. When we protect our Saturday night we start our Sunday right! (I’m not sorry for the cheap rhyme.)

Come, worship the Lord with us

Worship at half past ten each Sunday. The Lord’s Day is the market day of the soul — keep it with the church.
